one time, I had an interview early morning at 10 am. Since I was working in night shift I woke up late and got ready in under 15 mins and left for the interview. there were some weird looks given by the male receptionist there. I was very nervous for the interview and almost fell when I went in. Even though I fumbled initially, my overall interview went very well and the panel was very nice and polite. Later when I was taking my leave, the female panellist called me to the side and told me to visit the washroom and fix my top. I was wearing it inside out this whole time and didn't even realise!! The panellist said she waited till the end of the interview as she didn't wanna make me more nervous than I already was! I was so embarrassed though. I did get the job and went on to work under her for the next two years!!

This happened a few months ago. i was go for an interview for a digital marketing executive post (basically related to sales profile as described by consultancy agency) When  i reached at office, the interviewer was on a phone call for about 15 20 minutes and told me to Wait. After an hour later, the interviewer invited me in his cabin for interview. There he put so many questions out of my resume, and answering itself without listening my points. Later  he asked questions related to computer like how to design a website. He asked me how much websites u designed till now. And in how much time. I was shocked  because that is not my cup of tea. I am not from computer background or coding field as I did MBA . And lastly when he came to know I am not from computer applications field and can't design websites. interviewer offered me calling job where I have to make calls and take feedbacks  for services offered by company. So that was embarrassing interview Experience till now .

This happened a few years ago, when I was interviewing for a role with a leading MNC. As a practice I normally try and reach the venue early to avoid any last minute confusion, however on that day due to bad traffic I managed to just run in on time. I was praying that the interview will be running late so I can organize my self, but no luck I walked into the reception as the HR person was calling my name, so I walked straight into the interview. The interview was pretty smooth till when the interviewer asked me to tell a difficult people situation which I faced as a people manager. I was taking them through a fairly emotional situation I went through when suddenly my phone rang. As luck would have it I missed putting it on silent mode and my ring tone was the "Nakka Mukka" song. It sort of jolted everyone out of their wits. I got so nervous that I started fumbling with my handbag and digging out the phone, after a few agonizing seconds (which felt like an eternity) I managed to put the phone on silent. It was really embarrassing to look at the laughing interviewers and i just lost my line of thinking. Fortunately the interviewer as pretty cool and let me settle down and then continued with the interview. After this incident I have never had a caller tone like that ever.

During the pandemic, I moved to my home town which is rather remote. I had my first experience of a virtual interview. The interviewer was a foreign national. He was all pumped up and his first question was, " Are you familiar with the STAR format?" Even though I spent an afternoon preparing a good answer, maybe because it was 12:00 am in India, I didn't hear the word STAR and asked him to repeat. He made a face and repeated as well as explained what it was. I was immediately embarrassed but nodded and said okay I couldn't hear you the first time. Then he asked me my first question. Even though the start was bad I was determined to keep my calm. As I started answering within 10 min into the interview the power got cut and my video became completely black. I came back online within 30 seconds using my mobile internet and explained that I couldn't switch on my video as there was no power. He then completely lost interest and the interview was finished in the next few minutes. Since he was overseas maybe the concept of power cuts was lost on him but still it wasn't a justification. Hence my first virtual interview was both embarassing and disappointing experience but it did tell a lot about the patience level of the interviewer as well!

It was my very first job interview & unfortunately, I was late already & ended up wearing a top written "Shut-up & Squat" the moment I walked inside the cabin the interviewer gave me a lecture for my dressing sense 😭 I somehow managed to perform well in the interview. Atlast when they offered me 30k monthly package. I was expecting 20k max as I was totally a fresher ) I said, " Do you really feel I deserve this much ? " Everybody started laughing including me. ( After reaching home I realised how dumb & embarrassing day I had  :(

Interviewer: Did you bring your references with you? Me: I tried, they couldn’t get the time off work!
I laughed but my interviewer didn't so it turned embarrassing for me 😭
