Empty interface is a marker interface. It does not contain any methods by implementing interfaces.

Marker Interface is such interface which has only declarations and no body. Such interfaces need to implemented to be brought in use. They are defined in java for the purpose of permission grants.
eg :  Serializeable, Runnable

  • RandomAccess interface present in util package and doesn't contain any methods. It is a marker interface.

An empty interface is known as marker interface it does not having any method and field implemented.

An interface having no data member and no function is called a marker interface. For eg - serializable, cloneable etc.
(To looks whats inside interface, in eclipse IDE, put your cursor on that interface and press ctrl+shift+t.)

It is also called as tagging interface used to indicate or inform JVM that a class implementing this interface will have some special behavior. It doesn't contain any methods or fields
