You can decide what job you like to do or Not
Comfort of your location & time (partly)
Quantity & Quality of job to get involved is your prerogative
Earnings is directly depended on your Skills or Connects or Sales skills

Challenges :
- No steady income ,hence getting Loans or committing on EMI's is not an option
- Your credibility & next business is on based on yesterdays work quality (Degree/Title/Age/Gender/Experience may  not save you )

Good option when you are financially stable and have multiple skills or options to work on......

Freelance / Consulting is not yet matured in India. If you are young, I would recommend gaining experience in a full time employment, build deep skills in specific competencies and then aim to be an entrepreneur building product or solutions or a freelancer providing custom solutions to clients. The question you have to ask is whether you have the capability and reach to acquire clients who will use your services. You should also evaluate if the skills that you have are hot in the market. For many youngsters, it works better if they have a full time employment and use their evenings and weekends to freelance and earn additional money. Once they have built enough traction they can decide to take the plunge and become a full time freelancer. There also you should evaluate between becoming an entrepreneur building products / solutions vs being a freelancer. Building products / solutions are more likely to give you non-linear returns. The bottom line is to know for yourself what your aspirations, financial needs and time commitment are.

The couple of folks I know who gave up their cushy jobs for full time freelancing/ entrepreneurship, love the fact that they can call the shots and that they work for themselves. No more boring excel sheets and ppts and the work they do is their passion/ dream. They love the flexible schedules and the earning potential is huge. Of course it is not everyone's cup of tea.

Fulltime employment will give you job security, stable income and predictable work timings. But freelancers will have to look for work on their own, there's no predictability on income specially in the starting phase. Best to have some fund set aside as back up in case of going full time into freelancing.
