Hello.... Yes, engineering grads can get into Sales & Marketing (S&M) function very easily. Engineering grads are required specifically to sell specialised products such as Chemicals, Aeronautical, Information Technology, Automobile etc. Manufacturing companies like L&T, Carborundum Universal, TATA, Schneider, BMW, Nestle, HAL etc are all examples companies that recruit Engineering grads for their S&M function.
However, for S&M role, additional attributes such as excellent vocal skills, extrovert nature, natural curiosity, comfort with interactions & being with people, willingness to travel are beneficial to perform well.

Yes you can, provided you have the interest for it. Unlike engineering, sales is a different ball game. You need to motivate yourself and keep going even when things don't happen quickly. You should have a liking for travel and meeting new people. Your work timings will be completely based on your client's convenience. Most importantly, you should be able to connect with people and have great communication skills.
