Community Guidelines

Here at Verwin, it is our mission to connect the professionals who have knowledge to the ones who need it. A big part of doing this is the meaningful discussions that happen in our Q&A forum.

A2A is where you exchange questions and answers in a knowledge-focused environment. Whether you've come to ask questions, or to generously share what you know, remember that we’re all here to learn, together. Be welcoming and patient, especially with those who may not know everything you do.

This collaborative approach to problem-solving will help you connect with specialists and build your reputation, at any stage of your career. We’ve put together these guidelines so that you can get the most out of A2A – and to make sure it remains relevant, professional, and useful.

Use your real identity

Verwin is a professional network and we require our members to use their real identity, using their real names, real photos, and accurate information about themselves. Please do not provide misleading information about your qualifications or work experience, affiliations, or achievements on Verwin.

Asking Questions

Verwin is a career management site, hence you can ask questions about the workplace and other career-related topics. With your help we're working to build a library to every question about the workplace related to:

  • Finding, maintaining & separation from employment
  • Company specific advice, advice on a specific choice (eg. resumes, e-mails, salaries etc.)
  • Leadership in the workplace
  • Self development, entrepreneurship & any other area in which you’d grow as a professional

Keep in mind the following tips before asking a question

  • Search, to see if the question you have in mind is already available
  • Be on-topic & specific
  • Make it relevant to others & keep an open mind

You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face. Questions that are not related to career, therefore of low quality, may be removed by the moderators. Once a post has been deleted, it will disappear for all users & will not appear in the search results.

When you ask a question, you’ll be prompted to tag the question with a few topics. Topics are a means of connecting experts with questions & can also be used to help you identify questions that are interesting or relevant for you. Clicking on a topic below a question brings you to a page that shows all questions within that topic. Each question can only be tagged to 3 topics at maximum, so choose the ones that best describe your question. Users can also ‘tag’ others using @username.

Writing a good answer

Read the question carefully. What, specifically, is the question asking for? Make sure your answer provides that – or a viable alternative. The answer can be “don’t do that”, but it should also include “try this instead”. Any answer that gets the asker going in the right direction is helpful, but do try to mention any limitations, assumptions or simplifications in your answer. Brevity is acceptable, but fuller explanations are better. Ensure the answers you share are relevant & accurate.

We don't expect every answer to be perfect, but answers with correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar are easier to read. They also tend to get shared more frequently. Feel free to add source links to your answers but please add context around the link so your fellow users will have some idea what it is and why it’s there.

Commenting

Comments are used primarily to leave notes to the author asking for clarification, discuss, or to point out problems, or otherwise help make the answer better. Comments are for debates or deliberations. The following users will be automatically notified of your comment:

  • the owner of the answer you're commenting on
  • the owner of the comment if you reply to their comment
  • one additional user when your comment contains a @username

Unacceptable behavior

People use A2A to discuss their careers and engage with professionals in various fields. We believe that disagreements and healthy debates can lead to great progress. To facilitate these important conversations, we ask that our members respect each other's ideas and acknowledge the diversity of thought and opinion.

Verwin is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical appearance.

Reporting

Our network is growing every day and we strive to create an environment that is free of inappropriate and abusive content. To do this, we rely on help from the users from our network. Here’s what you need to do if you see something on Verwin that is inappropriate or abusive:

  1. Flag the harmful content - Depending on the content, flagging will alert moderators who will review & take appropriate action.
  2. Contact us - We’ll respond as quickly as we can.

We put forth this code of conduct not because we anticipate bad behavior, but because we believe in the already exceptional level of respect among the users. We believe that articulating our values to one another reinforces respect.

We welcome your feedback on this and every other aspect of what we do at Verwin. Thank you for working with us to build a kind, collaborative, and respectful community.
